Our PAFL sources indicate that a possible trade between Cincinnati and Oakland has been agreed in principle, but will not be confirmed until the trading period opens up after the 2021 Super Bowl.
With QBs Drew Brees and Teddy Bridgewater on the roster, the Bengals' 3rd string QB, Nick Foles, will be moving on to the Oakland Raiders. With Foles already on the inactive Taxi Squad for 2021, the Bengals cannot trade him until after the season concludes.
Rumor has it, compensation from the Raiders is their 2020 2nd Round selection of LB Anfernee Jennings. Looking at the other Oakland selections in the recent Rookie Draft, it does seem out of character that Jennings - a 3rd Round NFL pick and a part time starter - was the player the Raiders wanted with that selection. After all, that 2nd Round pick was already traded from Cincinnati to Oakland back in January - pafl.proboards.com/thread/1534/cincinnati-oakland-trade - so it is easy to assume that the Bengals would want to get their own pick back.
What does this mean for starting Oakland QB Mitchell Trubisky? Is the Raiders' GM feeling that 25 year old Trubisky is not the long term answer and needs a veteran QB to mesh with their young talent? Also, inside sources indicate that the Oakland GM was pounding the Draft War Room table when the Miami Dolphins selected QB Tua Tagovailoa right in front of them in the first round.
Neither Bengal GM Pierce Roberts nor Raider GM Walt Sienzant were available for comment. Stay tuned.
