Summary: Broncos traded safety Kam Chancellor, linebacker Erin Henderson, and running back Antonio Andrews to the Carolina Panthers for running back T.J.Yeldon, wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, and cornerback Kevin Johnson.
BRONCOS ACQUIRE THREE PROSPECTS FROM CAROLINA
San Diego, December 23rd, 2017: The Chargers continued with the trading that is typically endemic of all new GMs and coaching staffs, trading three more veteran players to Carolina for three young players with potential.
"We understand that we're giving up one of the premier secondary players in the league in Kam Chancellor," Charger Head Coach Hank Sienzant, who also serves as the team's General Manager, said in announcing the trade.
"That's why we wanted to acquire in return some good young players with high ceilings. And we think we got that in running back T.J.Yeldon, wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, and cornerback Kevin Johnson," Sienzant said.
In addition to surrendering the 28-year-old Kam Chancellor in trade, the Chargers also gave up inside linebacker Erin Henderson and running back Antonio Andrews. Andrews was the Chargers leading rusher last year with 140 carries for 465 yards (3.3). He also caught 24 passers for 133 yards (5.5)
Henderson is 30 years old, while Andrews is just 24. Rumor has it that Andrews was in Sienzant's dog house for reporting out of shape and for failing to complete the mile run every player is required to finish in under eight minutes.
By contrast, T.J. Yeldon is a year younger, and a bit more accomplished than Andrews. He finished last season with 403 yards rushing on 79 carries (5.1) and 227 yards receiving on 24 catches (9.5).
Kevin Johnson is a former starting rookie cornerback for the Panthers, and Laquon Treadwell is a highly regarded rookie wideout from the University of Mississippi. Johnson is just 23 years old, while Treadwell enters this season as a relative toddler as a 21 year old.
